Call to Action: Home Cultivation for Medical Marijuana Patients and Caregivers in Pennsylvania

KDKA Newsradio in Pittsburgh, PA is the oldest radio station in the country celebrating 100 years of radio broadcasting this year. The publisher for Sensi Mag in Pittsburgh, PA Gina Vensel, has joined the station on occasion to talk about MMJ education, advocacy for patients, special events, and changing laws around cannabis. In my most recent segment with Larry Richert that aired on Sunday, March 30th, she was asked to speak on how this pandemic is effecting her as a mother, entrepreneur, and publisher for Sensi.
She discussed how at a time when medical cannabis has been deemed an essential business in PA, patients are lucky that dispensaries are still open. Recent changes in PA include telemedicine appointments for MMJ certifications and recerts, online ordering with curbside pickup, and the ability for patients to purchase 90-day supplies at a one time.
There is also a petition by the Pennsylvania Cannabis Coalition to allow home cultivation by patients and is nearing their goal of 5k signatures!
Now more than ever it’s important that we focus on bringing the community together to end the stigma around cannabis and to ensure there is safe access to medical cannabis to those that need it most.
