What is the name of your business and when did you start, and what industry are you in?

In the dynamic intersection of beauty and cannabis culture, few figures stand as boldly as Kimmie Cannabis. With nearly four decades of experience in the beauty industry, Kimmie embarked on a mission to challenge stereotypes and foster awareness through her ventures, Hair Sesh and the pioneering podcast, Canna Talk About It™.

What was your mission or purpose at the start of your company?

From its inception, Hair Sesh and Canna Talk About It™ were built upon the core values of human empowerment, women’s equality, education, and advocacy. Kimmie’s mission was clear: to challenge stereotypes surrounding cannabis and share authentic stories that resonate with people.

What are you looking forward to in 2024

Kimmie attributes much of her success to her remarkable husband, Corey, and her steadfast teammates, Rocky and Ashley, who have been with her since day one. Together, they form a formidable trio dedicated to challenging norms and making a positive impact in their community. Looking ahead to 2024, Kimmie is excited to welcome her daughter, Vanessa, to the team, further expanding their collective reach and influence.

Why do you feel your business is important to the community?

At Hair Sesh, clients experience a fusion of beauty and cannabis education unlike any other. Kimmie Cannabis, as she’s affectionately known, not only transforms hair with hemp products, but also educates clients on the endocannabinoid system (ECS) and the benefits of holistic self-care. Hair Sesh Private Studio provides a canna-friendly oasis where clients can medicate without judgment, normalizing the consumption of a joint instead of a glass of wine. Kimmie’s product selection predominantly consists of hemp-derived ingredients, supporting local brands and promoting community collaboration.

Beyond the salon chair, Hair Sesh and Canna Talk About It™ are deeply committed to community engagement. High N Heelz, an annual gala, exemplifies this commitment by bringing together individuals to celebrate art, fashion, and cannabis advocacy. The event, scheduled for October 19, 2024, serves as a platform for unity and camaraderie, with a team of volunteers working tirelessly to ensure its success. Canna Talk About It™ sets up as media sponsors at events, sharing stories that amplify voices within the cannabis community and hosting Creator Sesh Zones to foster collaboration and inspiration.

What made you choose to start a company in this industry?

For Kimmie, the journey towards empowerment and advocacy has been deeply personal. Her father’s tragic passing on February 8, 2001, due to an accidental opioid overdose, left an indelible mark on her life. Witnessing the devastating effects of addiction firsthand, ignited a fire within her to seek alternative solutions for pain management and wellness. In her father’s memory, Kimmie dedicated herself to spreading awareness about the benefits of cannabis and holistic approaches to health.

Kimmie Cannabis wasn’t just a name; it was a character born out of advocacy. Kimmie created the persona to promote voting “YES” on medical cannabis SQ 788. Through this character, she aimed to raise awareness and challenge the stigma surrounding cannabis, paving the way for a more accepting and educated society.

Kimmie’s journey is marked by triumph over adversity. Having experienced her own children overcome addiction and feeling the personal loss due to addiction, she turned to plants over pills as a beacon of hope. Kimmie learned the art of resilience and the importance of perseverance from her mother, Roe, who has been her inspiration since birth. Roe’s unwavering determination and drive for success instilled in Kimmie the ethos of never giving up, a lesson she carries with her in every endeavor.

What is your vision for the future?

As Kimmie looks to the future, she envisions expanding her reach and impact. In 2024, she plans to amplify her presence through her podcast and grow Hair Sesh into Hair Sesh & Company—a haven for cannabis-friendly beauty experiences. With each endeavor, she remains steadfast in her commitment to empowerment, education, and advocacy.

In a world where beauty and cannabis converge, Kimmie Cannabis stands as a beacon of change and inclusivity. Through Hair Sesh and Canna Talk About It™, she’s not just styling hair and sparking conversations—she’s revolutionizing industries and touching lives, one empowering moment at a time.
