According to the January 2021 Leafly Jobs Report, the legal cannabis industry supports over 321,000 full-time equivalent (FTE) jobs, including plants and ancillary positions. Christi McAdams, CEO of Highlite Staffing, discovered the need for an education platform for industry professionals, those who wanted to enter the field, and enthusiasts to collaborate. Having worked in the cannabis industry since 2013, she developed the Cannabis Community College. She currently serves as chairman of the board of directors.
Initially, the platform provided education for state compliance, regulations, and standard operating procedures—a valuable resource for those beginning careers in the cannabis industry, working entry-level jobs in cultivation facilities, production labs, and dispensaries. It has since expanded to include networking groups, webinars, and events to help unite the industry nationally and globally.
“We added community to our platform,” explains McAdams. “Our members can create profiles, participate in free classes and workshops, and network with other members.” She developed the Global Cannabis Industry Networking Group recruiting diplomats and ambassadors from all countries with legal (or close to legal) cannabis industries. Panels update members on how the industry is changing and, for fun, the panel will be presented in comic book form.
Cannabis Community College is offering readers of Sensi magazine a free membership by applying online.
