Bye, Felicia. Don’t let the door hit you on the way out.
Remember in 1995 when Ice Cube starred in the film he co-wrote, Friday? A film devoted to friends getting high, sitting out on their lawns, and bidding that famous farewell to a girl named Felicia?
Well, the time has come again. This year was a doozie. A tragic display of humanity in terms of lack of concern for others (I’m talking to you, anti-maskers and Trumpsters). Systemic injustice and racial tension showed how deplorable humans and those in positions of power behave. And let us not forget the wave of an illness that has taken the lives of hundreds of thousands of Americans and is still running amok like a Demogorgen.
The thing is, a little ditty came out earlier this year that summarized what was going to be the worst year of many of our lives. That song, released by the angsty Avenue Beat, became our mantra. The song? #F2020!
So, as we watch the final days of this godforsaken year fade away, let us raise a glass, a blunt, and a Biden-Harris flag and say it together: Fuck 2020! Oh, and Bye Felicia!
