What is the name of your business and when did you start?
We are Smokey’s Cannabis Co. and we’ve been operating since 2009.
Why is our company important?
I love that we have never taken the easy road, even when what we are trying to do seems bat crazy. When the price per lb is so dirt cheap there are no margins, it would have been easy to give up our focus on sustainability and clean cannabis. Growing in soil takes a lot of love and attention. When pricing pressures are backing you into a corner, it is hard to stick to your guns and say, “we are not giving up on the dream of growing as nature intended”.
Why is sustainability important to you?
For us, a healthy plant means a healthier end product and aligns with our focus on an active consumer as a target market. We know that self-care is vital in today’s world and part of self-care is watching what we consume when we are doing the things we love and that make us happy. For some that is getting together with friends, for others it is yoga or hiking or just reading a book. We want to provide a product that is beyond organic and has terpenes and cannabinoid profiles that can only come from a living soil environment.
What do you do best?
Our best sellers are our “Little Smokey’s” multi-packs which are .25 gram pre-rolls. They are perfect for that active consumer and my personal favorite. However, our Smokey’s Select packaged flower is probably our best kept secret. It is in a Tree Hugger Glass Jar and a Sana Ocean plastic lid which seals in the freshness. We have new skus that are in the R&D stage but in the current industry environment we are waiting for the perfect time to roll those out. Right now we want to focus on what we do best, which is cultivating amazing flower and being innovators in the organic pre-roll space.
What does your future look like?
Spreading the importance of regenerative agriculture is definitely a major focus as many people still do not know what living soil means or how growing in dirt with salt based fertilizer is not the same thing as living-soil-grown. We are actively looking for individuals and companies that align with our mission to advance small batch organic cannabis. We have been in business since 2009 and have actively worked on educating consumers and fellow stakeholders by teaching cultivation classes such as the one provided by the Color of Cannabis. We are also excited to be fundraising capital for some major innovations in our processes.
Where can people find you/ your products/ your service?
We have to give a huge shout out to all of our awesome partnered dispensaries here, who are too numerous to mention. Our “Little Smokey’s” stash packs can be found all over Colorado (Northern CO, Southern CO, Denver, the mountains, and even the Western Slope). We are really lucky to be increasing our sales when even just surviving within the cannabis industry has become incredibly difficult for small companies. We are thankful to have great products, great people, great partners, and great customers!
