Lee Lanier Paints art gallery at The Arts Factory is now open—a show of faith that COVID-19 cannot stop creativity. Lanier’s paintings use historical, literary, and mythological characters to display perseverance and victory. His artwork includes empowered women and a range of elements from 20th-century commercial illustration, pop surrealism, and Renaissance tableau.
Lanieir combines his work as a contemporary figurative painter with a computer animation background. He then adds another layer to the experience by weaving augmented reality into some of his art.
Lanier’s paintings have been showcased in numerous galleries in the US, and he has painted a series of public murals in Las Vegas and Boulder City, Nevada. “I have always appreciated the downtown Arts District and have wanted to be a part of it for some time,” Lanier said.
Lanier’s work has been featured at Sundance, Slamdance, SXSW, Boston Museum of Fine Arts, and the Smithsonian Institution.
The Arts Factory is a safe venue that engages in the utmost caution to protect both the gallery owners and visitors. Masks and social distancing are mandatory.
A Virtual Reality tour of the gallery is available on Lanier’s website for free. Visitors can also download the Artivive app and hover their phone over his paintings to explore the symbol- ism of each piece.
